Junius Brutus Stearns was a nineteenth century artist, well respected resident of Williamsburg, Brooklyn, New York, and an academician at the National Academy of Design. Writing as JB Stearns, Karen Ellinwood tells two tales, one a fictionalized narrative of the motivation and political tension surrounding JB Stearns' painting of the Washington series - including the painting entitled The Statesman, depicting George Washington addressing the Constitutional Convention at the signing. The second work is a novel imagining JB Stearns a Vampire.
